Even if you are a computer novice, you won’t find it hard. This is one of the biggest reasons why people prefer 3.5 HDDs. These are larger hard drives and suit desktops more than laptops.

This would give even more space for a mod (3 fans in the front) or even a bigger rad as I'm currently looking into water cooling and I'm really keen to do at least a basic setup for my CPU and GPU. No, but also this would give me the option to remove the 5.25" bays as I'm not using a CD Drive anymore and I'm currently not planning to use a fan controller or only the one included. My OCD kicks in there, I always want my PC to look as clean as possible. And since the R4 offers this mounting option at the MoBo tray, I figured that this would eventually reduce the cable clutter or at least less cable are visible. I'm currently using mine in a 5.25" Bay with the Scythe Disk Stabilizer. No, I'm looking more for an alternative to 3.5" HDD's as I like to remove both hard drive cages. Yeah, I'm not looking for an alternative to a SSD and my build will have a SSD inside, or at least I will buy one later one. If i was you, id put in the extra money for a SSD, they really speed up your computer What would be the advantages and disadvantages to this smaller form factor or are these just small HDD's that work the same way, are faster and quieter and are superior to 3,5" overall?

Can you use these drives in your PC without any modifications? (Define R4 offers a mounting option behind the MoBo tray)Įdit: Oh, one more thing. Are 2.5" HDD's faster than 3.5" HDD's in terms of reads/write?Ģ. Is this true? Because I know that most speeds that manufacturers indicate on their SSD's will most likely not be achieved.ġ. I also noticed, that they're quite cheap and (so do the details state) are faster than regular 3.5" drives. I'll probably get quite some bash for not knowing the exsistence of 2.5" HDD, as I usually associate SSD with this form factor. So, as I'm currently buying all the parts together so my system can move over into the new case (Define R4) I came across something interesting while browsing through my go - to shop for hardware.
